<method>Equilibrium was ensured through repeated shaking and centrifuging of a dichloromethane and water mixture in a stoppered Goetz tube and returning the sample to a constant temperature water bath. The difference between the total amount of dichloromethane which was added and the amount remaining in excess was taken as the amount of dichloromethane dissolved in the known volume of water. The determination of the excess amount of dichloromethane added is described by Hanslick [1].</method>
