<method>Trichloromethane was added from a microburet to an aqueous solution of octanoic acid containing KCl under vigorous stirring. The pH of the solution at first remained constant right up to the appearance of a second phase, i. e., up to the saturation of the aqueous phase with trichloromethane, after which it began to rise. The solubility was calculated from the volume of the aqueous phase and the volume of trichloromethane used for the saturation.</method>
