<method>An excess of 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane was added to 10 mL distilled water in a 50 mL flask. The mixture was magnetically stirred in a constant temperature water bath. The equilibrium mixture was analyzed by using radioactive techniques. The $\ce{^{14}C}$ activity of the water samples was measured in a liquid scintillation spectrometer by recording the number of counts per minute.</method>
