<method>An apparatus containing the mixture of 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane and water was placed in a waterbath thermostat. The stirring of the mixture was accomplished by using a glass rod rotated by a horseshoe magnet for about 48 hours. The concentration of water in the organic liquid phase was determined by the Karl Fisher titration method.</method>
