<method>The water-rich mixture was studied using gas-liquid chromatography in which a mixture of methane and 1,1,2-trichloroethane vapor passed through the sampling loop. The eluted 1,1,2-trichloroethane was determined with a flame ionization detector. The organic-rich mixture was studied using an isopiestic method in which $\ce{CaCl2}$ solution controlled the partial pressure of water. The water concentration of the organic phase was determined by using a Karl Fischer titration apparatus.</method>
