Measured volumes of 1,1,1-trichloroethane were injected into the bottles through each bottle septum using a microliter syringe. The solute was in excess of the anticipated solubility limit. The bottles were shaken for one hour with a wrist-action shaker and allowed to equilibrate for about three weeks. Samples were then injected into a gas chromatograph equipped with a Carbo-pack column and a FID detector.
